Mac’s Construction Now Operates Like A Well-Oiled Machine Thanks To Their New Local Area Network

“Personal service has always been a plus when dealing with NetBase. They have an honest desire to take into consideration the needs of each individual employee and to help them to do their job better, faster, and more efficient.”

– Hal McMahon, President of Mac’s Construction

Hal McMahon knows how to make big, mulit-million dollar construction projects a complete success; but when it came to constructing their computer network, he knew he needed to call in the experts at NetBase Technologies.

Mac’s Construction Company has been in business for 30 years and has built several of the churches, schools, hospitals, and banks in and around Hattiesburg. As a matter of fact, in January of last year they completed the construction of the Newpointe shopping center and moved in! However, the computers running their office desperately needed to be updated, secured, and networked to improve communications, to share information, and to operate the business.

Estimating Jobs Becomes A Lot Less Stressful

Before they installed their new LAN (Local Area Network) Mac’s Construction was operating on a ‘shoe string’ network. Bid day at Mac’s Construction is already high on the tension level, but when their computers would hang up, crash, or go offline, the tension would escalate.

“With our new network we don’t have to panic when a job is due and a computer locks up or goes down; we simply pull up the job on another computer. I’m also opening and managing several businesses at once and it has been great to actually pull up daily sales, orders, and other reports for all of them from one central location,” said Hal McMahon, President of Mac’s Construction.

Saves Time, Reduces Redundancies, And Speeds Up The Bidding Process

Another problem was the time, expense, and inefficiency of their bidding process. Before their new LAN was installed, much of the process was done manually via old-fashioned snail mail. This delayed response times, created redundancies, and increased costs.

To solve this problem, NetBase installed a LAN to connect their eight workstations together. They then installed Outlook to allow them to host their own e-mail and FaxMaker to enable them to quickly request bids from their contractors. Not only has this sped up the bidding process, but it has also helped to organize their projects, bids, and paperwork.

“This new network has been especially beneficial when it comes to estimating jobs. It has definitely decreased the redundancies we were experiencing when doing estimates,” says Hal. “With all of our data consolidated into one central location, we are able to save time and the steps involved to meet our completion deadlines. It has also saved us a ton of money on postage and we are able to communicate and receive responses from our vendors and contractors much faster now.”

What Makes The Guys At NetBase Different?
Here’s What Hal Had To Say…

When asked what makes the guys at NetBase different from all the other computer support companies, Hal had this to say…

“Personal service has always been a plus when dealing with NetBase. They have an honest desire to take into consideration the needs of each individual employee and to help them to do their job better, faster, and more efficient. They truly take time to understand your business, not just the hardware and software running it.”
